We Are Live
Hi! Hello! The day is here, the blog is LIVE! First off, I want to say
thank you for taking the time to click through and allowing me into your world. I am so
incredibly grateful. I want to send you a giant, warm welcome to the Labour of Love
Crafts blog! My name is Linh and it’s so great to e-meet you.
My Story
I created @labouroflovecrafts on Instagram in the beginning of 2016 as
a place to house all of the artsy things I was creating. On June 2, 2017 I
posted my first real creation which was a simple version of a dream-catcher. A month or so after that, I opened the labouroflovecrafts Etsy shop and have
been continuously trying to learn new skills and to create items that I am
proud of.
In My Genes
Crafting and creating things has always been in my blood. My talented uncle
is an amazing artist and introduced me to photography when I was younger. My brilliant
older brother taught me beginner’s HTML/CSS which lead me to creating my first
website when I was about 9 (which was in honor of my favorite childhood cartoon
The Rugrats). My equally brilliant sister has too many amazing skills to count!
She’s a lovely painter, crafter/creator, party planner and has the incredible
skill of always giving the most thoughtful and precious gifts. I am so grateful for them.
2017-2018
Beyond saving money being a favorite past time of mine, I've always enjoyed trying to figure out how to make something
that I saw online or in stores. I loved the challenge and I found the process
quite therapeutic. 2017-2018 was an incredibly rough couple of years in my life
as we were dealing with my dad’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. I hated admitting
it to anyone, but it really took a toll on me emotionally and mentally. The
only thing that could get me out of my own head was yoga and crafting. Yoga is fantastic
but you can only do pigeon pose for so long. I turned deeply
into crafting and really started to take it seriously. I realized that the skills I learned over the years would only get me so far. So, I took a few classes, watched thousands of YouTube videos, listened to hundreds
of Podcasts and had countless conversations with loved ones, now here I am.
Purpose
This is something I’ve been wanting to do for over 10 years and have been actively working hard at it for the last 10 months (wow, just saw the 10 and 10... that can’t be a coincidence). My hope for this blog is that it’ll be more than just showing you how to re-create something that I’m demonstrating. I want this to be a community where we can talk about our problems as much as our successes, our losses just as much as our wins. We’re only on this planet for so long, let’s leave our mark. This is only the beginning… I’m sitting here about to jump out of my chair because the future excites me, and I cannot wait to see this thing grow.

Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by. It means everything to me. I hope you learn a few things about crafting (and
life) during your stay. Now let’s go conquer the world together!
With gratitude,
Linh ♡ labour
